Why is it so problematic to recover the data? Every single hard disk that formerly was a part of a LVM RAID1 setup contains all data that was stored in the RAID, but the hard disk cannot simply be mounted. The method I'm describing here works only on systems to which you have physical access. If your server is in a remote datacenter, for example, you can't boot it from the Knoppix CD, but most hosters provide a rescue system that you can use in the same way to reset your password. |

2008-05-02 By Edgar Howell "So when all is said and done in spite of a couple of "minor" problems I am still an enthusiastic user of Knoppix. It definitely belongs in every toolbox.
And the fact that I don't like what is happening with KDE is absolutely irrelevant: the world is a big place, there is room for lots of different opinions. It's just a matter of taste. You might like it; you might not want to re-master - that's great too. Someone else might want GNOME instead of IceWM. The point is that with Linux, you have options. Go for it! |
